This Privacy Policy governs the manner in which the Bulgarian Aviation Industry Association (BAIA) collects, processes, and protects the personal data of users of the specialized Career Portal.

2. PURPOSES AND LEGAL BASIS FOR PROCESSING:

The platform processes personal data for the following purposes: supporting career guidance and facilitating the connection between education, business (employers), and young professionals in the aviation sector. Processing is carried out on the basis of the following legal grounds:

  • Consent – voluntarily provided upon registration and profile creation.
  • Performance of a contract – for the provision of services in accordance with the Terms and Conditions.
  • Legitimate interest – for the purposes of administrative control, portal security, and verification of data accuracy.

3. PERSONAL DATA COLLECTED AND SPECIFIC DECLARATION REQUIREMENTS:

Upon profile creation, the Portal collects standard identifying information, including name, email address, contact phone number, date of birth, and photograph.

IMPORTANT – Declaration of Specific Aviation Qualifications:

Job applicants (professionals, students, and pupils) declare in the Portal the possession of the relevant licenses, certificates, and qualifications in accordance with the requirements of EASA and applicable national legislation:

  • Type of flight crew license (PPL, CPL, ATPL) and medical certificate.
  • Confirmation of technical personnel qualifications (e.g., Part-66/AML).
  • Educational institution and field of study.
  • Confirmation of a clean criminal record and completion of aviation security training courses.

The Portal does NOT collect, store, or process physical or scanned copies or originals of these documents and certificates.

Their exchange, verification, and provision are carried out directly between the candidate and the respective employer, outside the functionalities of the platform.

Furthermore, the Controller does not copy identity documents, driving licenses, or residence documents.

4. DATA RECIPIENTS (SHARING WITH THIRD PARTIES):

In order to fulfill the main function of the Portal, personal data from user profiles (including declared qualifications) is shared with legal entities registered on the platform (employers, training organizations, airlines, airport operators, etc.) when you apply for a specific job posting or are included in the job seekers database.

5. DATA RETENTION PERIODS AND RETURN OF DOCUMENTS:

  • Within the Portal: Data is retained until the user profile is deleted. In the case of a specific recruitment procedure, data is retained for up to 6 months, unless explicit consent is provided for a longer period.
  • In direct exchange with the employer: Where you have provided the employer with original documents or notarized copies of qualification documents during the recruitment process, the employer is obliged to return them within 6 months after the completion of the procedure if you are not selected.

6. DATA SUBJECT RIGHTS:

You have the right to:

  • Access, rectification, erasure, and restriction of processing of your personal data. These rights may be exercised directly through actions available in the Portal interface or by submitting a written request to office@baia.bg.
  • Right to lodge a complaint: In the event of a violation of your rights, you may lodge a complaint with the Commission for Personal Data Protection (CPDP) within 6 months from becoming aware of the violation, but no later than two years from the date of its occurrence.

7. PROCESSING OF PERSONAL DATA OF MINORS:

  • Individuals under the age of 14 may register only with the explicit consent of a parent or legal guardian.
  • Individuals between the ages of 14 and 18 use the platform primarily for educational purposes and career guidance.

8. VERIFICATION AND ADMINISTRATIVE CONTROL:

Based on its legitimate interest in ensuring security in the aviation sector, BAIA has the right, where necessary, to carry out verification checks on the validity of declared licenses.

In the event that false or misleading information is identified, the profile is immediately deactivated, and the user has the right to submit an appeal within 7 days via email at office@baia.bg (BAIA shall issue a decision within 10 working days).

9. COOKIES AND SECURITY:

The Portal uses cookies that are necessary for its proper functioning. BAIA implements appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorized access.
